While everything may be important, not everything is EQUALLY important and appropriate for all-church consumption. (See We are UNITED on the Communications Values page.) When we treat everything the same, it gets noisy.

As individual departments operating as part of Neighborhood, Comms has developed a tier-based filter to help us prioritize and triage promotion emphasis and methods. With each Tier comes a toolbox of specific deliverables and margin the Comms team is able to provide.

Depending on the audience impact percentage, your project (campaign, promotion, event, etc.) could fall into one of three categories:

TIER 1️⃣

The most important events and next steps that impact at least 75% of our adult audience. These require the most energy and should be promoted across almost all comms channels.

Examples:

  • Group Launch Season

  • SLT Priorities

  • Special Weekends (Fall Vibes, etc.)

  • FOR Projects

  • Weekend Teaching Series

  • Easter

  • Christmas

  • Life Change Stories

  • Community Events (S’more Visalia, etc.)

Expectations
Champion:
Comms will drive.
Stakeholder: Ministry leader collaborates with direction and context.

Expect “the works” when it comes to all-church communications.

TIER 2️⃣

A medium-major ministry event or next step which impacts a significant amount of our audience (35-75%). These do not need to be promoted across every platform or channel but should be focused on where they will be most effective.

Examples:

  • Kids Ministry Events

  • Groups

  • Discipleship Events

  • Men’s Breakfast

  • Restore Women’s Conference

  • Night of Worship

Expectations
Joint Effort:
Comms and ministry departments/leaders partner together.

Comms will give creative support and collaborate with ministry leaders on messaging and distribution.

TIER 3️⃣

Small and/or recurring events and next steps which impact a limited number of our adult audience (0-35%). These should be communicated widely sparingly, promoted using only the venues that make sense for the announcement.

Examples:

  • Mission Trips

  • Group Meet Ups

  • Student Events

  • Child Dedications

  • Volunteer Training/Recruitment Events

Expectations
Champion:
Ministry leaders/teams drive and execute the promotion.
Stakeholder: Comms works in a support role with coaching and resources.

While it’s not out the question to TIER 3️⃣ to receive Comms support, they should expect it to be limited.
